On Friday 18 August, Geraldine Hayes spoke about her program experience in Launceston, “The Tasmanian Leaders Program has given me an understanding of other people and why they act and behave as they do, the differences we have and how best to manage these. But most importantly the program has given me a profound understanding of myself. It has changed me and allowed me to develop in a way that will assist me in achieving my legacy.
“Undertaking the program is a big commitment for participants, but we must also recognise the support employers give, especially in small businesses with few employees.
“Employers, please do not think you have the same person that you first sent to the program, because you don’t. You now have an employee that has a greater understanding of Tasmania including, social justice, governance and branding. More importantly, however, the person you supported in this program has an understanding of the need and change that is required to become leaders in their chosen field.
“As Tasmanian leaders we cannot, and will not go back, we must move forward and be willing to drive the change that Tasmania needs.”
