Scholarships

Scholarships are available to help individuals and organisations cover all or a portion of the fees for the Tasmanian Leaders Program.

The various scholarship and their eligibility criteria are set out below.

Tasmanian Leaders Non-Profit Scholarship

The Board of Tasmanian Leaders is offering one scholarship of up to $2,800 to cover the employer/sponsor fee for one successful applicant from a small community-based not-for-profit or social enterprise. The organisation must have clear social outcomes in Tasmania and the scholarship recipient must have demonstrated capacity, success and passion to lead their organisation.

To be eligible you must:

  1. Be employed by a small community-based not-for-profit or social enterprise with clear social outcomes in Tasmania.
  2. Complete a candidate statement of up to 300 words outlining:
    1. Your demonstrable commitment to the Tasmanian community.
    2. Your demonstrable capacity, success and passion in the not-for-profit sector.
    3. Why you or your organisation needs financial support to pay for your professional/personal development.
Tasmanian Leaders Small Business Scholarship

The Board of Tasmanian Leaders is offering one scholarship of up to $2,800 to cover the employer/sponsor fee for one successful applicant from a small business in Tasmania with demonstrated capacity, success and passion to undertake future entrepreneurial projects.

To be eligible you must:

  1. Manage/ be developing a small enterprise or business, with considerable initiative and risk.
  2. Complete a candidate statement of up to 300 words outlining:
    1. Your demonstrable commitment as an entrepreneur, including key outcomes and successes over the past 5-10 years.
    2. Your demonstrable capacity to drive the development and growth of a profitable entrepreneurial business.
    3. Why you or your organisation needs financial support to pay for your professional/personal development.
 TasNetworks Scholarship Tasmanian Aboriginal scholarship

As a Scholarship Partner, TasNetworks agrees to cover 100% of the employer fee, to support the leadership development of a participant of the 2021 Tasmanian Leaders Program for a Tasmanian Aboriginal person.

To be eligible you must:

  1. Meet the State Government’s Aboriginal eligibility guidelines: Tasmanian Government Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander programs and services

Eligible candidates will be asked to complete a candidate statement of up to 300 words outlining:

    1. The extent to which participating in the 2021 Tasmanian Leaders Program would impact their lives;
    2. The extent to which the scholarship will assist them in their representation of, and commitment to their community, culture and the general aspirations of Tasmania’s Aboriginal People; and
    3. Any need the scholarship will assist them overcome.
Scholarship application process

To be considered for a scholarship you must complete an application form addressing the eligibility criteria after you have completed your application form for the Tasmanian Leaders Program.

The process to apply for a scholarship is as follows:

  1. Complete your main Tasmanian Leaders Program application form.
  2. Indicate in that application your wish to apply for a scholarship.
  3. Submit your Tasmanian Leaders Program application form.
  4. The system will automatically provide logon access to your scholarship application form.
  5. Logon to the portal and choose ‘Scholarship form’ under ‘Applications’.
  6. Complete and return the scholarship form by 6 October 2020.
Please note the following

You will not see the option for scholarship forms until you have submitted your Tasmanian Leaders Program application form.

We encourage you to speak with a member of staff before submitting an application for a scholarship. To do this please contact us here.

If there are no suitable candidates for a given scholarship in a particular year, that scholarship will not be awarded.

An applicant may be offered a reduced scholarship if they of their employer can cover the remainder.
