Scholarships for the Tasmanian Leaders Program

Scholarships are available to help individuals and organisations cover all, or a portion of the program fees to build capacity in a particular community or industry, based on the priorities of our scholarship partners.

The criteria for eligibility is outlined below, but please note the first criterion for all scholarships is acceptance by Tasmanian Leaders into the Tasmanian Leaders Program. No scholarship will be awarded if no candidate is considered suitable and on occasion an applicant may be offered a reduced scholarship on the proviso they, or their employer can cover the remainder.

Tasmanian Women in Agriculture Inc.

Tasmanian Women in Agriculture

Tasmanian Women in Agriculture Inc is proud to offer one scholarship of $2,800, to contribute towards employer/sponsor fee, for one of its members to participate in the 2017 Tasmanian Leaders Program. Candidates must be willing to attend two TWiA events to talk about their experience.

Eligibility criteria:

  1. Must be a member of TWiA
  2. Consideration of a candidate statement outlining how your values and work align, or contribute, to the vision and mission of TWiA, which can be viewed here.

 Cityprom Member Scholarship

Cityprom is proud to offer one scholarship of $2,000, to contribute towards employer/sponsor fee, for a potential candidate employed by a Cityprom member business to participate in the 2017 Tasmanian Leaders Program. Candidates must be willing to attend two Cityprom board meetings to talk about their experience.

Eligibility criteria:

  1. Must be from a Cityprom member business; and
  2. Consideration of a candidate statement as part of the request for financial assistance of up to 300 words outlining:
  • aspirations for the Launceston CBD in the future and how they may be achieved; and
  • why you or your organisation needs financial support to pay for your professional/personal development.

Max Kitchell – NRM South Tasmanian Leaders Scholarship

Max Kitchell has served as Chair of the NRM South Board for six years, and is stepping down late 2016.  In recognition of his service to the organisation, a scholarship  to the value of $2,800 has been created to help leaders and practitioners in the management of our natural resources make a difference to their career and sector.

Eligibility criteria:

  1. Must be employed or volunteer in the natural resource management (or related such as farming) sector within the southern Tasmanian region.
  2. Consideration of a candidate statement of up to 300 words outlining:
  • your commitment to the NRM field and aspirations for the future;
  • how this scholarship will help you achieve your goals;
  • how the skills and knowledge gained from the Tasmanian Leaders Program will benefit your sector; and
  • your willingness to present to the NRM South in the latter part of 2017.

Start-Up Scholarship

Privately funded by a passionate expat this scholarship will reduce the employer/sponsor fee by $2,800, for a successful applicant driving a successful Tasmanian start up.

Eligibility criteria

  1. Must be an entrepreneur working in the start-up phase of a new enterprise or business; and
  2. Consideration of a candidate statement of up to 300 words outlining:
  • key outcomes and successes over the past 5-10 years in relation to your entrepreneurial activity;
  • your capacity to grow the business and contribute to the economic growth of Tasmania; and
  • why you or your organisation needs financial support to pay for your professional/personal development.

Tasmanian Leaders Non-Profit Scholarship

TLI Logo The Board of Tasmanian Leaders Inc. is offering one scholarship up to the value of $2,800, to cover the employer/sponsor fee, for a successful applicant from a small community based not-for-profit or social enterprise with clear social outcomes in Tasmania with demonstrated success, capacity and passion to lead the organisation forward.

  1. That you are employed within a small community based not-for-profit or social enterprise with clear social outcomes in Tasmania; and
  2. Consideration of a candidate statement of up to 300 words outlining:
  • your personal and demonstrable commitment to the Tasmanian community;
  • your demonstrable capacity and success within the not-for-profit sector; and
  • why you or your organisation needs financial support to pay for your professional/personal development.

Tasmanian Leaders Small Business Scholarship

The Board of Tasmanian Leaders is offering one scholarship of up to $2,800, to cover the employer/sponsor fee, for one successful applicant from a small business in Tasmania with demonstrated success and capacity and passion to undertake future entrepreneurial projects.

Eligibility criteria:

  1. That you are managing/developing a small enterprise or business, with considerable initiative and risk; and
  2. Consideration of a candidate statement of up to 300 words outlining:
  • your personal and demonstrable commitment as an entrepreneur, including key outcomes and successes over past 5-10 years;
  • your demonstrable capacity to drive the development and growth of a profitable entrepreneurial business; and
  • why you or your organisation needs financial support to pay for your professional/personal development.

Applications for a scholarship

Anyone interested in being considered for one of the above scholarships will, in addition to the program application form, need to complete a separate application form addressing the eligibility and selection criteria. To access the scholarship from you need to first indicate your intention to apply for a scholarship in your main TLP application. After you have submitted your main application the system will then automatically provide access to the scholarship application which you can get to by logging into the portal and choosing ‘scholarship form’ underneath the heading ‘applications’. You won’t see this option until you have submitted your application form. We highly encourage you to speak with a member of staff before submitting an application for a scholarship on 6777 2781.

Closing Date

Scholarship applications must be received by October 6.
