Scholarships for the Tasmanian Leaders Program

Scholarships are available to help individuals and organisations cover all, or a portion of the program fees to build capacity in a particular community or industry, based on the priorities of our scholarship partners.

The criteria for eligibility is outlined below, but please note the first criterion for all scholarships is acceptance by Tasmanian Leaders into the Tasmanian Leaders Program. No scholarship will be awarded if no candidate is considered suitable and on occasion an applicant may be offered a reduced scholarship on the proviso they, or their employer can cover the remainder.

Tourism Scholarship

The Regional Tourism Organisation of Tasmania are offering scholarships of up to $5,600, to cover the full employer/sponsor fee. Eligible applicants must be working in the tourism and hospitality sector with a passion for seeing the visitor economy evolve in Tasmania. Applicants who may otherwise struggle to participate in the program without scholarship support will be viewed favourably.

Eligibility criteria:

  1. Evidence of current employment within the tourism and hospitality industry
  2. Commitment to participate as a member of your local Destination Action Plan leadership group, and share learnings from the Tasmanian Leaders Program, and
  3. Consideration of a candidate statement of up to 300 words outlining:
  • your commitment to the tourism and hospitality industry
  • your future vision and aspirations for the industry in Tasmania, and
  • why you need financial support to pay for your leadership development.

 

Max Kitchell – NRM South Tasmanian Leaders Scholarship

Max Kitchell served as Chair of the NRM South Board for six years, stepping down from the role late 2016.  In recognition of his service to the organisation, a scholarship to the value of $5,600 has been created to help leaders and practitioners in the management of our natural resources make a difference to their career and sector.

Eligibility criteria:

  1. Must be employed or volunteer in the natural resource management (or related such as farming) sector within the southern Tasmanian region.
  2. Consideration of a candidate statement of up to 300 words outlining:
  • your commitment to the NRM field and aspirations for the future;
  • how this scholarship will help you achieve your goals;
  • how the skills and knowledge gained from the Tasmanian Leaders Program will benefit your sector; and
  • your willingness to present to the NRM South in the latter part of 2018.

University of Tasmania Innovation Scholarship

 University of Tasmania

The University of Tasmania is offering one scholarship of up to $5,600, to cover the full employer/sponsor fee, eligible applicants must be an entrepreneur working in an innovative enterprise with a passion for future learning, who could not undertake the program without financial support. It may also include coverage of costs that are incurred during the program, to reduce barriers for applicants facing additional geographical, physical or financial constraints.

Eligibility criteria:

  1. That you are an entrepreneur with a passion for life-long learning; and
  2. Consideration of a candidate statement of up to 300 words outlining:
  • your personal and demonstrable commitment as an entrepreneur, including key outcomes and successes over the past five years;
  • your demonstrable passion for learning and future study plans; and
  • why you need financial support to pay for your professional/personal development, including whether you need any additional resources to attend program days to address access issues.

Tasmanian Leaders Alumni – Change Maker Scholarship

The Tasmanian Leaders Alumni has collectively funded a scholarship, for a yet determined amount, for an applicant who is actively progressing a project that has the potential to create positive change and benefit to a sector of the Tasmanian community.

Eligibility Criteria

  1. Must have a vision and supporting action plan to progress a project that will create positive change or benefit the Tasmanian community;
  2. Consideration of a candidate statement addressing the following points:
  • Participating in the Tasmanian Leaders Program (TLP) will enable the applicant to develop necessary skills and build networks that will positively impact on the likelihood of the project’s success; and
  • The applicant can provide details of the value of, and need for, financial support to participate in the TLP.

Tasmanian Leaders Non-Profit Scholarship

The Board of Tasmanian Leaders Inc. is offering one scholarship up to the value of $2,800, to cover the employer/sponsor fee, for a successful applicant from a small community based not-for-profit or social enterprise with clear social outcomes in Tasmania with demonstrated success, capacity and passion to lead the organisation forward.

Eligibility criteria:

  1. That you are employed within a small community based not-for-profit or social enterprise with clear social outcomes in Tasmania; and
  2. Consideration of a candidate statement of up to 300 words outlining:
  • your personal and demonstrable commitment to the Tasmanian community;
  • your demonstrable capacity and success within the not-for-profit sector; and
  • why you or your organisation needs financial support to pay for your professional/personal development.

 Tasmanian Leaders Small Business Scholarship

 TLI Logo The Board of Tasmanian Leaders is offering one scholarship of up to $2,800, to cover the employer/sponsor fee, for one successful applicant from a small business in Tasmania with demonstrated success and capacity and passion to undertake future entrepreneurial projects.Eligibility criteria:

  1. That you are managing/developing a small enterprise or business, with considerable initiative and risk; and
  2. Consideration of a candidate statement of up to 300 words outlining:
  • your personal and demonstrable commitment as an entrepreneur, including key outcomes and successes over past 5-10 years;
  • your demonstrable capacity to drive the development and growth of a profitable entrepreneurial business; and
  • why you or your organisation needs financial support to pay for your professional/personal development.

Applications for a scholarship

Anyone interested in being considered for one of the above scholarships will, in addition to the program application form, need to complete a separate application form addressing the eligibility and selection criteria. To access the scholarship from you need to first indicate your intention to apply for a scholarship in your main TLP application. After you have submitted your main application the system will then automatically provide access to the scholarship application which you can get to by logging into the portal and choosing ‘scholarship form’ underneath the heading ‘applications’. You won’t see this option until you have submitted your application form. We highly encourage you to speak with a member of staff before submitting an application for a scholarship on 6777 2781.

Scholarship applications must be received by October 6.
